4.10.6 Entering Flight Details into a Pilot’s Logbook

1. Requirements for logbook
- Student pilots and the holders of a Pilot Licence
- must maintain an accurate and up-to-date logbook
2. Pilot Details
- Pilots name, aircraft type ratings, and
- certifications,authorisations and ratings held
3. Flight Details
- Every flight where pilot was flight crew member
- Every simulated flight done for time or
- currency requirements for licence or rating
- Each flight test, flight review, competency demonstration
- and flight crew competency check
4.10.4 Holding a Type Rating

1. Pilot NZ
- A pilot operating in New Zealand
- must hold a Type Rating .
2. Foreign Pilot
- A foreign pilot may use a
- Type Rating that is attached
- to a foreign pilot license
- as per validation permit.
3. Student Pilot
- A Student pilot is NOT required to
- hold a pilot licence or type rating.
4. Other Pilots
- A balloon, glider, microlight pilot is
- not required to hold a licence or rating
- (if the pilot meets the requirements
- under Parts 103, 104, or 106
- and is not operating for hire or reward)
5. A-Cat Instructor
- A current A Cat Instructor Rating
- is not required to hold an aircraft type rating
- for a single engine aeroplane
- (if they hold a type rating
- for an aeroplane of similar configuration. )
6. Test Pilot
- A test pilot of an aircraft is
- not required to hold an aircraft type rating.
4.10.2 Holding a Pilot’s Licence

2. NZ Aircraft operating Outside NZ
- Current New Zealand Pilot's Licence; or
- Current Pilot's Licence for country in which aircraft operates usually
- Current Foreign Pilot License authority and a validation permit.
- Current Australian Pilot Licence if the Trans-Tasman Mutual Recognition Act 1997 applies to the licence;
1. NZ Aircraft operating within NZ
- Current New Zealand Pilot Licence,
- Current Australian Pilot Licence
- (if the Trans-Tasman Mutual Recognition Act 1997 applies to the licence);
- or a Current Foreign Pilot License authority and a Current validation permit.
4.2.12 Responsibility with respect to Safety Offences

1. Carelessness
- Operating an aircraft in a careless manner
- Up to $7000 fine
2. Danger to planes, products or services
- Unnecessary danger to aircraft,
- aeronautical product,
- or aviation - related service
- Up to $10,000 fine or
- 12 months imprisonment for an individual
3. Compliance
- Failing to comply with an
- inspection or monitoring request
- is also an offence.
4.2.10 Surrender of a Medical Certificate

1. Medical Status
- You are responsible, if your
- medical certificate is revoked, withdrawn, or suspended
- Or if you are disqualified from holding the medical certificate
- for a specified period,
- to surrender the medical certificate to the Director
4.2.8 Changes in your Medical Condition.
